Appreciating Food Culture

Concept

Inspired by a event series Underground Secret Dining, JEMA Tour is dedicated to all food lovers in Jakarta who want to enjoy a delicious meal in rich cultural values that can be found in traditional markets. This is a fun three-hour walking tour because it involves local culture and underground mouth-watering food that is best known by locals.

JEMA Tour has a primary mission to provide inspiration of traditional market as Jakarta’s own precious cultural heritage. Traditional markets can also be used as an alternative site of a sustainable and affordable leisure for urban residents.

JEMA Tour is also expected to provide local insight and wisdom of culinary arts that can be enjoyed not only by local residents but also by other people who live in the suburbs.

Because traditional markets play an important role in urban planning, Azanaya collaborates with Ruang Jakarta : a community which has a mission to raise the aspirations of Jakarta citizens for a sustainable city.

After the tour, participants are asked to provide feedback, ideas, and criticism related to their experiences following JEMA Tour. They will be given a simple questionnaire that has been designed by Ruang Jakarta. A full result of the questionnaire will be able to be accessed every month : www.rujak.org.
